CON - He wants a serious relationship?!
PRO - He tells me he loves me.
CON - People think I'm a fool when I tell them he loves me because he's probably only using me to get a Green Card.

Just so you know. . . my husband is from the UK & has only just been granted his US immigration & we've been married for over 2 years & we have 2 kids together! He probably isn't just using you for the Green Card. Maybe it really is love!! Fingers crossed for you in any case. My kids & I are all dual citizens, but we all live in the UK with designs on moving across the pond. The US doesn't just hand out Green Cards to every Tom, Dick or Harry these days!! Hope he is the real deal after your crappy, wife beating ex!

As a follow on from my last comment, I would like to say that I am very sympathetic about your love life. I had a crappy, girlfriend beating boyfriend of 4 years & moved over to the UK just to get away from him. He beat me up when he found out that I was pregnant with his child & never told him about it due to the fact that I didn't want an abortion. Long time ago. . . but still very traumatic. The baby was put up for adoption (I was much younger then & very alone & very scared). Just try and find a nice guy--> there are loads out there. My little brother lives in NYC & he's quite a catch, however; he is married now. But, he does have some really cute Jewish friends (your Mother would definitely approve). I tend to find that the best guys are kept in secret--> usually places like the library or the theatre. Have a cultural day & find a hot bod at the art gallery. Just some food for thought. . .

Truly excellent post! It made me laugh at the end of a very long week. I'm really feeling this right now:
"PRO - He claims to want a serious relationship.
CON - He wants a serious relationship?!"

Neil,
Yes, we're talking about bachelor #2. I can't help it. I'm a sucker, I know.
2:27 PM
LOL! I think you should go for it...well as long as there's no wedding plans the day after he comes here.
Enjoy life and the adventures that come with. The good thing is you can change the locks if he turns out to be a shit. :)

I was just watching Green Card the other day! It's fate -- you're meant to be with him.
Seriously, if it's love, then it's love. You're an incredibly smart woman, you'll do the right thing. BEST WISHES TO YOU!!
