Oh yes I did, I posted THE CARTOONS

This type of expression is NOT acceptable. But apparently......

.... this is just fine.

I'm not a fan of hypocrisy, especially from the creators of these images:

Precisely. If the Islamic media didn't show such anti-Semitic cartoons with the ferocity and regularity with which they do, the current arguments would hold so much more weight...

Wow. It looks like a whole bunch of people really need a hobby.

It never ceases to amaze me that folks get so upset by the stupidest things.

I love how Muslims are protesting images of Islam as violent and opressive react to in a violent and opressive way. No irony there at ALL.

In open societies it is a right to publish your opinions, but the law states that it is illegal to yell fire in a crowded theater.
Don't you think the cartoonist was throwing gas on a fire?
I'm not justifying the reactions of radical Muslims but looking for a rationale for all these actions and reactions.
Thanks for posting the info.

I thnk the point is that if you have a society whose religion overrides all other interests in life, this is the result!

Chessie - so all the past times when cartoons satirizingf and ridiculing Christianity,Judaism, or any other religion besides Islam it should have been published just because they wouldn't get a certain reactions, instead of a point they made. Publishing a cartoon expressing an opinion and yelling fire are two completely seperate issues. There is no bearing on a person's well being when someone draws a cartoon of Muhammad with a bomb on his head.

I don't remember anything in Christianity or Judaism that prohibits a likeness of their deities.
We tend to be somewhat PC about a lot of things in our day to day life but suddenly have no quams about insulting another beliefs.
There are Muslims in my family, ighy educated and they were upset by cartoons. What you expect from the uneducated class?
Personally I have no use for religion and this is a classic example of all the ills these beliefs have wrought.
Insult, Indignation, Intolerance and Indifference

How about Christ in urine? Remember that little art installation that was plastered around news channels covering the controversy, i don't remember Catholics torching embassies or protesting with rocks. It's one thing to be upset by the cartoons it's a whole different manner to express yourself violently against ideas. I wouldn't mind peaceful protests but the reaction from the Islamic countries has been nothing but disproportionate. Although there is no equivalent of Muhammad or Christ in Judaism how about all those cartoons of Sharon as a baby killer or drinking blood of Arab children. Did Jews or Israeli's riot and burn the Egyptian flag as well call for the destruction of all Islam nations? Again i have no problem with people voicing there disgust with the cartoons, but the fact that Imams took both the Muhammad cartoon with the turban and TWO other cartoons that weren't even published in the newspaper and toured with them throughout the Middle East should say something about why this violence is happening and how the press should respond. As for religion causing strife, i agree religion has proved to be a dividing force. But so has such regimes as Communism. Even if all religions were wiped off the face of the earth people would choose other things to kill each other over.

Powerful VS Powerless. Christians have power in the western world. They don't have to protest they call the people in charge, which is what happened with the urine incident.
Iran now has a contest for the most degrading Holocaust Cartoon, and so it goes.

Right...the Saudis, Egyptians, Lebanese, Iranians, and all the other wonderful folks in the Arab world are completely powerless to stop the state-controlled media from printing virulently antisemitic material. (Chessie, you might want to re-think your stance.)

Anonymous, what is your point?

My point remains that the cartoons, which are an expression of free speech, were the ultimate in insults to a religious group. The problem is religion, all religions, which say they all have the only true path to God or whatever. My way or the highway (hell if you are so inclined)
But it really does boil down to Powerful vs Powerless. The west has the Power, Arabs only have oil, but most Arabs have nothing.
I suggest you re-read Dickens when the Ghost of Christmas present tells Scrooge that the two threats to humanity are "Ignorance and Want" That is what we are seeing today with the fanatical religious groups of all stripes.

people are fuckin stupid. when you choose to be angry, you choose not to chill. that is just plain retarded.
although, some of those cartoons are pushing it. like the one with him with a bomb as a turban on his head. this is important now -
it implies that the foundation of the religion is dictated by muslims and their actions rather than what has been written hundreds of years ago. associating what a small segment of fucked up muslims do today to the founder of this religion, the cartoonist seems to be irresponsible. this heavily distorts the core of the religion, which in reality, is peace.
all the organized religions messages are drastically similar, the people that follow them are fucked.

well, im a muslim..somewhat isolated from these emotional turbulance that muslims are engulfed with, being from malaysia-im currently in australia.

its mainly a cultural thing..i wonder if anybody will actually belief that Islam IS religion of peace seeing how these ppl react..well i do know AND belief so.
these ppl are emotionally sick..90 percent of muslims are in silence, being in the background, working hard to keep up with the times ..but the minorities of the population such as these fanatical lots are doing all they can to appear as the icon of the faith. WHAT can we do?

me? im beeing myself..i mix well with all my frens, my own greatgrandparents were bhuddist and hindus so why bother bout religious differences? race is an illusion so why bother being segregated? i support freedom of speech and ive have never been subjected to any opression whatsoever that most ppl think is sinonimous with Islam.

i try to do the best that i can to sow the seed of love AND trust..in my circle..tolerance is the key.. i might find some jokes on other faiths a bit moving but i wont laugh at it, tho' nobodys watching..its the respect i have for things that others hold important to their heart..

i am not TOTALLy disturbed or angry bout the cartoons, its been done before ..whats the fuss? reacting emotionally is whats againts our teaching and most muslims know that..

next time u see these fanatics.. remember that they are the minorities that are fanatics..good materials for the media but they dont present the majority of us..

yes, they are evrywhere but so is a lot of fanatics in other faiths..

i still buy danish salmon evryweek..its ridiculous all these emotional boycotting happening now..

i only wish that you can understand my point of view..and that is a start for hope..

no word can undo what these ppl has done, i can only apologise on their behalf..that is what our prophet wouldve done, being a peaceful negotiator that He was.

maybe yes, arabs arent the best ppl to look at if u wanna see how muslims live and act..i say no more

maybe one day..peace shall come from us..the backbenchers ey?
